Weather and Other Emergency Notification

Employees and the general public will be notified of any changes from normal college operations through local radio stations and newspaper websites; the home page of the WVC website, and through emergency text alerts for those students and employees who have signed up for this service.

If you do not hear a message regarding college operations, assume that the college is operating on its normal schedule.

Please do not call the campus operator. Get your information from the media, the college website, or from a text message on your cell phone (students and employees must sign up for the text messages).

In the event that inclement weather or other circumstances create the need to change regularly scheduled WVC operations, college personnel and students should report to their campus or center at the delayed start time. If operations are suspended, only employees designated to perform emergency tasks report to work. Students and all other college personnel do not report to their campus or center.

For day classes/offices, a decision to delay the starting time or close the college will be made by 5:30 a.m.  For evening classes/offices, a decision will be made by 2 p.m. The college will then notify the media, post information on the college website and send out emergency text messages to those students and employees who have signed up for this service.

In the event where local school districts are closing or scheduling later start dates, but the college remains open as usual, the college will notify the radio stations and post the website that the college will be open as usual.

Classes held in locations other than the main Wenatchee or Omak campuses will run or be cancelled based on accessibility to the buildings where those classes are scheduled. Instructors teaching classes in area K-12 schools should follow the closure procedures of those facilities. In the event of inclement weather or other countywide emergency, instructors should listen to local radio stations for the most current information about school building closures.
