Dan Stephens elected to Washington Ornithological Society board
Wenatchee Valley College biology professor Dr. Dan Stephens was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Washington Ornithological Society during the summer. The Washington Ornithological Society (WOS) provides a forum for birders from throughout the state to meet and share information on bird identification, biology, population status, and birding sites.
Among the society’s activities are a monthly newsletter and the peer-reviewed journal Washington Birds. Dan also serves on the journal’s editorial board.
Membership to the society is open to all persons interested in birds and birding.
WOS holds monthly meetings and sponsors monthly field trips throughout the state. An annual conference presents speakers, workshops, and field trips. WOS also sponsors the Washington Bird Records Committee, which is the keeper of the official state birds status list, and the Young Birders Fund, which supports fledgling birders with ornithological organization membership fees, tour fees and ornithological studies.
