Alumni Spotlight: Epiphany LaPlante ‘24

Epiphany LaPlante says that Wenatchee Valley College gave her the skills to be academically successful and built a foundation in her chosen career field. A recent WVC graduate, Epiphany soon began her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies – Social Sciences (IDSS) with a minor in psychology at Central Washington University. Epiphany LaPlante

Some of Epiphany’s fondest memories at WVC were in her Spanish classes. A variety of educational strategies kept her and her classmates engaged. “We watched music videos, played ‘hot potato’ games with vocabulary, and did team quizzes on the Kaboodle app. Additionally, a free version of Duolingo was provided,” she said. “I am now practicing my 466th day on the app, which I now pay for myself.”

Aside from Spanish class, another course that stood out for Epiphany was Pacific Northwest Geology. “It opened my mind to the amazing stories beneath my feet, above me on the plateau, and all around me in this beautiful place I am honored to live in,” she said.

For incoming students, Epiphany offers this advice: “Choose classes that fill your general education requirements in subjects you are curious about. When the subject matter interests you, the classes fly by, and you find yourself wishing they weren't ending when the quarter is over.”
