400.450 STUDENT EMPLOYMENT POLICY

Student employment shall be handled in accordance with Chapter 28B, Revised Code of Washington and Department of Personnel Board rules. Student work provided under the work-study program will not result in the displacement of employed workers or replace classified positions reduced due to lack of funds or lack of work. Students employed under the state work-study program shall be compensated appropriately according to HECB rules.

1400.450 STUDENT EMPLOYMENT PROCEDURE

A. STUDENT EMPLOYMENT PROCESS

  1. All student employees are processed through the college's financial aid/placement office, regardless of funding source.
  2. Financial aid staff have the following responsibilities:
    1. Process paperwork for placement requests for all student employees.
    2. Assist in the monitoring of earnings for work-study students.
    3. Direct students' working hours and responsibilities to comply with the rules established by the Higher Education Personnel Board.
    4. Monitor work-study programs with adherence to individual program guidelines.
