2007 Hall of Fame
Over 175 guests attended the 2007 WVC Hall of Fame event, “A Knight to Remember II,” on Saturday, June 2. The event was presented by Apple Valley Honda.
The guest speaker was Tom Parry, former head football coach for WVC and Central Washington University. Inductees included the 1983 football team, head football coach Sandy Cooprider, football player Gene Jessup, basketball players John Grieg and Mary Bradford, the 1985 softball team, and head coach John Kalahar. The special inductee was newly retired men’s basketball coach Greg Franz.
Dalton Thomas, Paul Thomas (posthumous), Dick Pieper (posthumous), and Jim Haglund were honored for their community support.
Special recognition was given to the 2006-07 MVPs Wilber Velasco, soccer; Yanet Candido, soccer; Michelle Short, basketball; Nate Sadewasser, basketball; Lauren Brem, softball; and Josh Fish, baseball. Special recognition was also given to Carole Keane, director of student programs and outreach, who retired from WVC after 22 years of service, and to Alan Clarke, athletic trainer, who left to spend more time with his family.
Tod McLaughlin, general manager of Apple Valley Honda, presented academic scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to Ashleigh Hess (softball) and Travis Fox (baseball).
