Overview

The WVC Medical Assistant (MA) program is designed to prepare medical assistants who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains for entry into the profession.

Medical assistants perform duties in both direct patient care (assisting with patient examinations and treatments, administering medication, and monitoring patient response) and medical office management (maintaining medical records, scheduling appointments, and handling insurance and billing procedures).

This is a four-quarter, limited enrollment program. Classes are held in the evening Monday through Thursday and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students who successfully complete the MA program will receive a certificate of completion and, once employed, will be eligible for certification as medical assistants.
