Student Access Services
Getting Started with SAS
To receive disability accommodations at WVC, students must complete the Student Access Services (SAS) intake process described below.
Accommodations do not automatically transfer from high school or other institutions. SAS makes the final determination of appropriate accommodations at WVC. Before beginning your SAS application, please apply to WVC and complete the WVC Student Checklist.
How to Request Accommodations
The intake process has three main parts. Most students complete them in the order below, but we offer flexible options as needed.
Part 1: Gather Documentation
Documentation helps SAS staff understand how your disability impacts access to your education. This may include medical records, school evaluations, assessment results, or other supporting information.
Please take a moment to review our documentation guidelines. That webpage helps you understand what we need, how to get it, and what to do if you can't get it.
Important: SAS recognizes some individuals may not have access to extensive documentation. Don't let concerns about obtaining documentation keep you from contacting our office.
Part 2: Complete the SAS Application
The online application helps SAS learn more about your experiences, your disability, and your history. The application automatically saves your work as you go.
Important: You must use your WVC student email information to access the SAS application. Learn more about your WVC student email or contact the WVC Helpdesk for support.
When you're ready to get started, log in using the button below:
Part 3 – Attend Your Intake Appointment
After we review your documentation and application, you will receive a link to schedule a meeting with the Director of Student Access. You may choose to meet in person or virtually. Omak students may request an in-person appointment by contacting our office directly.
The intake appointment is a conversation. We’ll talk about the barriers you’re experiencing, your disability-related needs, and possible accommodations. We will also review your rights and responsibilities as a student using accommodations.
Appointments are scheduled for 90 minutes. In some cases, follow-up may be needed. If accommodations cannot be approved during the appointment, we will clearly explain next steps.
Important Information
To request accommodations, you must use your WVC Student Email information to log in to the SAS Application Portal. You will not be able to sign in with a personal email address.
All students have a WVC email account. Visit the Student Email webpage to learn more about setting/resetting your password, logging in to your email, and looking up your account info. The IT Helpdesk can assist with troubleshooting your email account difficulties.
New Students - If you haven't enrolled yet:Welcome to WVC! You may not have a WVC student email account yet, because you haven't registered. Don't worry! You can still collect your documentation and contact our staff.
Let us know when you plan to start classes and we'll help get you through the process.
Once you're registered for classes, you can come back to complete the online application.
We do our best to respond and support students quickly. It typically takes 1-3 weeks to establish accommodations, depending on how many requests we receive at a time.
If you have concerns about your application status, you're always welcome to contact us. We'd love to hear from you. You can also log in to the SAS Application Portal to check the status of your application.
You can request accommodations at any time while you are a WVC student. However, accommodations cannot be applied retroactively. That means accommodations only apply to future coursework.
Please check your student email account for follow-up. If we do not hear back from you after 2 - 3 attempts, we will archive your application.
Don’t worry. Archiving simply means we paused the process until you’re ready to continue; we will stop trying to contact you until you reach out.
Archived applications are easy to reopen. Just email or call us to resume the process.
All accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis. The intake process helps us determine your accommodation eligibility.
If you want to use accommodations, you will need to request them each term. Students usually do this through the student access portal.
Reach out to SAS staff if you have any questions or concerns about using your accommodations.
