Wenatchee Valley College at Omak presents 9^th Annual Omak Film Festival

Wenatchee Valley College at Omak presents the 9^th Annual Omak Film Festival from Feb. 17 to March 22. All films are shown at the Mirage Theater, 101 S. Main Street, Omak. Each film will play nightly at 6:30 p.m. for one week, with discount matinees at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The films and their weekly show times are: Martha Marcy May Marlene (R), Feb. 17-23; My Week with Marilyn (R), Feb. 24-March 1; The Way (PG-13), March 2-8; The Iron Lady (PG-13), March 9-15; and Pariah 86 (R), March 16-22.

In Martha Marcy May Marlene, a drama/thriller directed by Sean Durkin, a young woman (Elizabeth Olsen) reconnects with her sister and attempts to undo the psychic terror of the Manson-like cult she has just escaped.

My Week with Marilyn stars Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier and Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark, an eager film student and an employee of Olivier’s who documents the tense interactions between Olivier and Monroe during the production of The Prince and the Showgirl in London.

The Way stars Martin Sheen as Tom, an American doctor who travels to St. Jean Pied de Port, France, to collect the remains of his adult son, Daniel (Emilio Estevez), who was killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage and is joined by other pilgrims from around the world, each of them looking for greater meaning in their lives.

The Iron Lady takes a look at Margaret Thatcher (Meryl Streep), the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with a focus on the price she paid for power.

In Pariah, Alike (Adepero Oduye) is a Brooklyn teenager and poet who quietly but firmly embraces her identity as a lesbian, despite the tension this causes in her family. This film is sponsored by the WVC at Omak Gay Straight Alliance Club.

Admission is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children under 11. One p.m. matinees are $5 for all ages. Wenatchee Valley College at Omak students with current student ID will be admitted free with one guest to these films.
