WVC International Festival May 3

The annual Cinco de Mayo festival at Wenatchee Valley College has transformed into the International Festival and will feature a variety of dancing, arts and crafts, and traditional ethnic foods. The festival will be held on Friday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. around the fountain on the Wenatchee campus. This event is free and open to the public.

With the merging of the WVC MEChA Club and the International Club, the focus of the International Festival is to represent the diversity that exists at the college, explained Faviola Barbosa, multicultural affairs coordinator and club advisor.

Cultural arts, crafts and activities for children in kindergarten through sixth grades will be offered. Entertainment includes music and dances provided by the Tlexiktli Aztec Dancers, Mariachi Huenachi, Rhythms of India and the Misawa Japanese student delegation.

An array of local food vendors will also be present, and traditional ethnic foods will be offered, including foods from Japan and Korea.

This event is hosted by the WVC MEChA-International Club.
