Marine Bio Clock Hour Workshop
A Marine Biology Clock Hour workshop for teachers is being offered by the Wenatchee
Valley College Continuing Education department from July 22 through 26. Participants
will spend three days in a classroom on the Wenatchee campus and two days in Anacortes
for field experience. Cost is $249, which includes hotel accommodations and field
trip transportation.
The marine biology workshop will provide teachers with experiences and resources to support ocean literacy in the classroom. Participants will spend time in the classroom and in the field studying marine biology, diversity, human impacts and more. Field study will include visits to Deception Pass State Park and the Padilla Bay Estuarine Reserve.
WVC Biology faculty Rob Fitch will teach the course. Fitch has taught at WVC for 24 years and has spent 21 summers teaching at Walla Walla University's Rosario Beach Marine Laboratory in the San Juan Islands.

WVC Continuing Education was approved to become a teacher clock-hour provider by the Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction in the fall of 2012. This is the first clock-hours workshop for teachers that the department has offered, with more opportunities being planned for teachers to receive clock-hour instruction online and in the classroom.
