Drawing and ornithology learning community returns to WVC spring quarter

Wenatchee Valley College will once again offer a drawing and ornithology learning community during spring quarter.

Form and Function in Nature combines Biology 217 Introduction to Ornithology and Art 110 Drawing 1 into a ten-credit class that integrates art and science. This field-oriented learning community will help students develop a deeper appreciation of the natural history in and around the Wenatchee Valley.

The class will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5 p.m., with several Saturday field trips included.

Students will move between the lecture classroom, drawing studio, biology lab and field trips to prime bird-watching areas in the region. They will also keep field notebooks for observations about birds in the forms of writing, diagrams and drawings.

No drawing experience is necessary.

Students must register for both ART 110 and BIOL 217.

The class is taught by WVC Art faculty member Scott Bailey and biology faculty member Dr. Dan Stephens.

Registration for continuing and former students begins Feb. 18; registration for new students begins Feb. 24. Spring quarter classes start March 31.
