Colony Collapse Disorder workshop at WVC Feb. 4

The Wenatchee Valley College Agriculture and Natural Resources department will offer a Colony Collapse Disorder Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Batjer Hall 8039 on the Wenatchee campus. This workshop is part of the Food, Environment and Community workshop series and is free and open to the public.

We have all been hearing about the disappearance of bees—Colony Collapse Disorder. What is this phenomenon? Why should we care? And most important—what can we do? Dr. Bob Gillespie, WVC Agriculture and Natural Resources faculty, will discuss how bees and pollinators in general relate to current agricultural issues throughout our region and the nation.

The Food, Environment and Community workshop series is designed to facilitate learning and discussion about relevant food-related topics and showcase local students, faculty and community members who have valuable knowledge to share with the community. This is the second year that the WVC Agriculture and Natural Resources department has offered these workshops.

The next workshop will be Winter Pruning for the Home Orchardist on Thursday, Feb. 13, presented by WVC Horticulture faculty Leo Garcia.
