WVC Music and Art Center featured on prominent architectural website

The award-winning Wenatchee Valley College Music and Art Center has been featured in ArchDaily, a prominent architectural website. The feature describes the architects' efforts to make use of the historic setting, combine the music and art programs with their unique needs, and create a sustainable design.

The Music and Art Center was designed by Integrus Architects and was completed in 2012, opening to students that fall. Less than a year after the building's completion, Integrus received an Honor Award for Civic Design for their work on the MAC. The Honor Award is the highest award presented by the American Institute of Architects.

In addition, the Music and Art Center has received the Silver LEED designation from the United States Green Building Council. The silver designation indicates that the building was well designed to be energy efficient. "As an inherent part of the designer's philosophy, the issues of sustainable design were at the forefront and resulted in an energy-efficient building," the architects explain in ArchDaily.

The Music and Art Center features The Grove, a 150-seat recital hall, and the MAC Gallery, a prominent student and faculty art gallery. The music wing includes a recording studio, large and small rehearsal rooms, and several practice rooms. The art wing features a 3D art room, wood and metal shops, and multimedia, printmaking, drawing, painting and outdoor studios.

The center has fostered partnerships for improving the quality of art and music education in the Wenatchee Valley.
