Wenatchee Valley College alumna Cynthia Neely will give a reading from her collection of poetry on Friday, March 6, at 5 p.m. in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center. After the reading, she will give a book signing and present an exhibit of her artwork in the MAC Gallery. This is a free public event.

"Cynthia has a unique and special connection to the college as a poet and painter who has developed her crafts over years of work in our advanced art and English courses," said Scott Bailey, WVC art faculty. "She speaks of her work as ekphrastic, where her poetry inspires her visual work and vice versa. We take great pride in her accomplishments with this book and body of artwork."

Neely recently received her master of fine arts in creative writing. She is the winner of the Hazel Lipa poetry prize from Flyway: Journal of Writing and Environment for her chapbook, Broken Water, and a finalist in the Aldrich Book Contest for her full-length volume, Flight Path. She lives in Leavenworth, Wash.

The reading and exhibition are sponsored by WVC Transfer English division and WVC Art department.
