The Ellensburg Piano Trio performs at WVC Nov. 2

The Wenatchee Valley College Foundation invites the community to a performance by The Ellensburg Piano Trio on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center, on the Wenatchee campus. This event is free, open to the public, and part of the WVC 75th anniversary celebration.

Donations are encouraged and will be directed to a 75th Anniversary Scholarship Fund. In honor of the college's 75th anniversary, the WVC Foundation has set a goal to raise $75,000 to provide 75 new $1,000 scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year. The Foundation currently provides $175,000 to $200,000 in student scholarships annually.

Performing as The Ellensburg Piano Trio are Kara Woods Hunnicutt, Denise Dillenbeck and Nikolas Caoile.

Hunnicutt is founder and director of the Ellensburg School Orchestra program, conductor of the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony and founder of the Icicle Creek Academy Orchestra. She has been principal cellist of the Yakima Symphony since 1990. She taught orchestra classes in the Wenatchee school district from 1999-2007, and she was on the faculty at Woods House Conservatory of Music in Wenatchee and the Icicle Creek Music Center in Leavenworth.

Hunnicutt was awarded the Outstanding Performing Artist Award by NCW Allied Arts and has performed with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra and the Spokane Symphony. She has been the principal cellist with the Wenatchee, Federal Way, Tacoma, Everett, Mid-Columbia and Orchestra Seattle Symphonies.

Dillenbeck is a versatile musician with a strong background in orchestral, chamber and solo playing. She has toured Europe and America with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and has played with the Seattle Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Pennsylvania Ballet Theater, Philly Pops and many other orchestras across the U.S. She is currently concertmaster of the Yakima Symphony, Lake Chelan Bach Fest and Northwest Sinfonietta. She was associate concertmaster of the Tacoma Symphony and has served as concertmaster for orchestras across the U.S. and in England.

Dillenbeck is active in chamber music through her performances with A Touch of Cayenne, a group that programs colorful cabaret-style concerts with a small ensemble. She is also a member of Central Washington University's resident Kairos String Quartet and the Trio Areté. She and her husband mark Goodenberger play music for violin and percussion as DuoDG.

She has collaborated as a soloist with a variety of orchestras and conductors across the region, and she teaches college music courses.

Caoile is a sought-after conductor, pianist and educator. Concurrently serving as conductor and artistic director of the Salem Chamber Orchestra, music director and conductor of the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra, and director of orchestras at Central Washington University, Caoile's artistic leadership spans professional, community and academic arenas.

He made his New York City debut conducting the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas in collaboration with Christopher Wheeldon's Morphoses Dance Company at New York City Center.

Caoile is a frequent collaborative recitalist performing throughout the Northwest. He has performed with Third Angle New Music Ensemble, the Yakima Seasons Festival, Icicle Creek Center for the Arts, Woods House Conservatory of Music, and he is currently a faculty member of the Kairos Chamber Music Lyceum, Chamber Music Madness and the Icicle Creek Summer Symphony.
