WVC Theater Department presents A Strange Disappearance of Bees

The Wenatchee Valley College Theater Department presents A Strange Disappearance of Bees by local playwright Elena Hartwell in the Wenatchee campus theater, Wells Hall. The play begins at 8 p.m. on May 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30.

A reception will take place on opening night, Saturday, May 16, at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m. A question and answer session with Hartwell and the cast will be held after the show.

Hartwell takes the audience through a honeycomb of relationships and revelations as five characters search for identity while bees disappear around them.

General admission is $8; students and seniors (age 60 and over) are $5. Admission is free for WVC students and staff on May 16. Tickets are available in advance at the Numerica Performing Arts Center box office, 509.663.2787, www.numericapac.org. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the show.

Hartwell has called has lived in the Pacific Northwest for 15 years. She holds a PhD in theater from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in education from the University of Washington. Several of her stage plays have been produced across the country, and she is the author of the Eddie Shoes Mystery Series.

Theater director Marcus Bingham has produced shows for Seattle's Mystery Dinner Theater Northwest Murder Mysteries and starred in a number of Leavenworth Summer Theatre shows. He teaches acting and stage production at WVC.
