The Wenatchee Valley College Foundation proudly awarded the third $1,000 scholarship
on April 14, 2016, from proceeds generated by the 2015 RLS Productions’ Concerts in
the Gardens, a five-week long summer concert series held throughout July and early
August at Ohme Gardens, Wenatchee, WA.
The 2015 summer series was the second year that Robert and Catherine (Rio) Sandidge,
founders and owners of the concert series, have presented the WVC Foundation with
a contribution in support of WVC students. Part of this year’s annual scholarship
was made possible by additional matching support from Dennis and Beth Dobbs, owners
of Horan Estates Winery in Cashmere, WA.
The scholarship was awarded to Brennen Bertram, a student in the WVC Graphic Design
sequence, a two-year arrangement of classes designed to provide students with skills
to enter the field of graphic design.
Brennen Bertram said, “Working on the RLS Productions’ Concerts in the Gardens brochure
gave me the real world experience of working with a client, while also increasing
my knowledge of design; and the scholarship is allowing me to get more out of my education,
and continue to pursue a career as a graphic designer.”
National artists dominated the 2015 concerts lineup. Robert and Rio Sandidge, with
the support of their sponsors and others, established RLS Productions’ Concerts in
the Gardens in 2014.
