Guitarist Edel Muñoz will kick off the Wenatchee Valley College Fall Music Series with a concert on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Munoz will take part in a question-and-answer session at 1 p.m. and a concert at 7 p.m. in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center, on the Wenatchee campus.
Admission to the concert is $5 for students with student ID cards. General admission is $10. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Seating in The Grove is limited to 150 people.
Muñoz, a Cuban native and U.S. resident, is one of the most acclaimed and sought-after players in the guitar scene. He is a first-prize winner in more than 20 international guitar competitions, including the Boston Guitar Fest, the Miguel Llobet International Competition in Barcelona, the Montreal International Guitar Competition and the Havana International Guitar Competition. Muñoz is an increasingly sought-after teacher and has been invited to give master classes in universities and conservatories. He has performed in more than 25 countries around the world, including Canada, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Venezuela, Uruguay, France, the U.S. and many others.
He began his studies at the age of seven in his native town of Matanzas and graduated from the National School of Music in Havana. After leaving Cuba, he continued his studies in Argentina, at the University of Santiago de Chile, and in Barcelona, Spain.
