Enter the kingdom and experience the past. Wenatchee Valley College will host the ninth annual Wenatchee Valley Renaissance Faire on Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1, at the soccer fields on the Wenatchee campus. The main entrance will be west of the tennis courts. The drawbridge will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Entertainment includes jousting demonstrations by Jousting Alliance of Washington State (JAWS), fighting demonstrations, musical performances, a fire breather, rogue wanderings by The Pirates of Treasure Island, belly dancing by members of the Sabah Tribe, a bird demonstration, bagpipes, the enchanting Princess Lolly, and the Knights of Veritas. Activities include shield designs, an archery range, a grail quest and a Maypole.
Over 40 merchants will be in attendance with medieval clothing, armor, chainmail, tapestries, jewelry, weaponry and more. Culinary treats and delicacies are also available.
Period costumes, as well as fantasy, live-action-role-playing (LARP) and medieval dress are encouraged but not required.
Admission is free for children five and under and for WVC students with current student ID cards. General admission for a one-day pass is $10 for adults (18 and older) and $5 for children between six and 17 years of age.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at Brown Paper Tickets, www.wenren.brownpapertickets.com, or at the faire entrance. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the gate.
