WVC hires new faculty

Wenatchee Valley College welcomed new faculty members to the Wenatchee and Omak campuses this fall. The faculty are filling a variety of new and vacant positions in both professional/technical and transfer divisions.

Kerin Keys is a math faculty member at the Wenatchee campus. Keys lived in Berkeley, Calif., and taught at the City College of San Francisco and at Berkeley City College. She has also taught at San Francisco State University and worked as an assistant at Conceptual Math Media. Keys has a master’s degree in mathematics from San Francisco State University and bachelor’s degrees from The Evergreen State College.

Benjamin Van Dyke also teaches math at the Wenatchee campus. Prior to WVC, Van Dyke lived in College Place and worked at Walla Walla Community College as a full-time instructor for five years and as an adjunct instructor for two. He was a visiting professor at Walla Walla University, and he taught at Kansas State University. Van Dyke has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Washington State University, a master’s degree from Kansas State University and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon University.

Cameron Painter is the new developmental math instructor for WVC Transitional Studies at the Omak campus. Painter was previously working as an adjunct instructor at WVC at Omak and as a middle school math instructor. He has a master’s of education in mathematics from Concordia University, a bachelor’s degree in education from Washington State University and an AA from Columbia Basin College.

Jeff Dykes has been hired as a full-time science faculty member at WVC at Omak, where he has worked as a part-time instructor for 23 years. Dykes has also taught at Charter Oak State College, Grays Harbor and Garrett College. A WVC alumnus, Dykes earned his AA in natural science and music theory, a bachelor’s degree in paramedics from Central Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and a master’s degree in science forest resources from the University of Washington.

Samuel Johnson has been hired as a full-time humanities instructor at the Wenatchee campus, where he has worked as a part-time English and humanities instructor since 2013. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature and English studies at Western Washington University, where he also worked as a teaching assistant.

Teresa Cutchie has been hired full-time as a nursing faculty member at the Omak campus. She previously was working as adjunct nursing faculty. She has also worked at Mid Valley Hospital in Omak as an ICU/ED registered nurse, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton as a registered nurse and at Harmony House Healthcare Center in Brewster. She graduated from WVC at Omak with an associate degree in nursing in 2005, and from Western Governor’s University with a BSN in 2014 and an MSN in 2016.
