The renovation was made possible by a donation of $75,000 from the Names Family Foundation and Dennis and Beth Dobbs. The locker rooms were dedicated to the donors.

Smith Gym was built in 1962. The locker room renovation began in April 2018, and created separate women’s locker rooms for soccer, fastpitch and basketball athletes, who had previously shared a locker room.

“The rooms were so dark and outdated. Everything is so bright and clean now. It’s just so much more open and every team has their own defined space,” Beth Dobbs said. “We are so pleased to share our passion for philanthropy, a deep interest in health and fitness, and a love for our community.”

The Dobbs’ were a major contributor of the Smith Gym floor remodel in 2016. They also provide $20,000 in scholarships for WVC athletes every year through the Names Family Foundation.

“The commitment that Beth & Dennis and the Names Family Foundation have continually made to youth and athletics in the Wenatchee Valley is simply unmatched,” said WVC Athletic Director Kyle Vierck. “The passion they demonstrate for these remarkable projects of impact in our community stokes our fire to further pursue excellence within our own halls. Wenatchee Valley College Athletics will be forever grateful for their generosity, and it will be fuel for our future in producing world-class student-athletes for years to come.”
