In her free time, she enjoys gardening; spending time with her three children, three grandchildren, and her pets; and being outside in nature.

Maleigha Peterson is a Wenatchee Valley College Running Start student and a Chelan High School senior. She will graduate this spring with an associate in science, a high school diploma, and over 400 hours of community service. This fall, Maleigha plans to enroll in the biochemistry program at the University of Washington and pursue a career in pharmaceutical sciences. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, rock climbing, and crocheting.

Leila Tall, from Cashmere, is also a WVC Running Start student. She will earn both her high school diploma and associate of arts and sciences-direct transfer degree from WVC. A first-generation student, Leila plans to attend Walla Walla University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work.

Phi Theta Kappa introduced the All-USA Academic Team to recognize and honor two-year college students for their scholastic achievement and community and college service. The All-Washington Academic Team program has become the showcase for Washington's community and technical colleges because it honors the academic high achievers, and the individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to success in the classroom and in the communities in which they live. This recognition demonstrates the state's commitment to scholarship and community service on the part of those attending the state's public community and technical colleges.

The program is sponsored by the Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges, the Washington State Association of College Trustees, the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, and Phi Theta Kappa.
