Two weeks before fall quarter starts, Wenatchee Valley College is offering a three-credit SDS 112: College Readiness Summer Bootcamp. Seats are limited, so interested students should register now. The course runs from Sept. 9-19, and the enrollment deadline is Sept. 8.

The class is provided free of charge thanks to the WVC Foundation, which is paying the tuition for all students enrolled in the class.

SDS 112 is a two-week intensive course in basic college readiness skills including college navigation, study skills, and reading, writing, and math fundamentals. Students will have the opportunity to strengthen their English and math foundations and receive assistance with correct placement in writing and math.

“Throughout the class, students have an opportunity to build connections and friendships with faculty, staff, and other students before college even begins,” said Lynne Kottmeier, WVC Student Development Skills faculty member. “This is so important when a student is new to college: they build relationships that help them find resources and support throughout their time at WVC.”

The class meets Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Wenatchee campus.

Instructors for the program include Kottmeier, math faculty Christa Cacciata, and English faculty Holly Thorpe. The course will also include guest speakers from across campus. Students can earn up to three credits for this class.

Students in CAMP, TRIO SSS, Transitional Studies or those who are receiving workforce grants should contact their program director for more information.

Students can enroll or apply for free at wvc.edu/GetStarted.
