The Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) Foundation is pleased to announce that over $714,000 in scholarships were awarded during the 2023-24 academic year, breaking the previous record of $664,000. 288 WVC students were awarded an average of $2,400 in scholarships, with 42% of recipients being the first in their family to attend college, and renewal scholarships accounting for 41% of recipients. These scholarships provide financial assistance to students as they work towards their educational goals at WVC.
A new roll-over application process began in the fall of 2023, enhancing WVC Foundation’s quarterly scholarship application process. This quarterly process is designed to provide funding opportunities to new and returning students who have not yet received a scholarship. If a student applied in the fall or winter quarter but did not receive a scholarship, their application was automatically considered during the spring quarter. Through this process, the application was simplified and allowed previous applicants to improve their initial application. Nearly a hundred students chose to update their application, with 46 receiving a scholarship award.
“To have [this scholarship] renewed means I can prioritize my self-growth as a student and focus on my next steps,” said Anna, a WVC scholarship recipient. “The financial burden of being in school extends beyond just tuition. The flexibility of this scholarship means I am supported in all aspects of my education.”
