Wenatchee Valley College Board of Trustees elect new chair, vice chair

The Wenatchee Valley College Board of Trustees has elected new leadership. Paula Arno Martinez will serve as chair, and Steve Zimmerman will serve as vice chair.
Arno Martinez is replacing Tamra Jackson, the outgoing chair. Arno Martinez is an attorney at Arno Martinez Law, PLLC, where she practices immigration law exclusively. She was first licensed by the State Bar of Texas in 2013. She has volunteered for CDCVAS for about ten years, primarily as an interpreter for legal consultations. She has also worked with the organization in partnership with the Latino/a Bar Association for free legal clinics.
She was appointed to the WVC Board of Trustees in 2020, and she also serves on the board of the Washington Association of College Trustees, Wenatchee Pride Board, Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center Board of Trustees, and Latino/a Bar Association of Washington Board.
Zimmerman, who was appointed to the board in 2019, is an attorney at Forman, Appel, Hotchkiss, Zimmerman, & Bauscher. He has been practicing law for 42 years. He also has extensive community involvement. He has served as president of the Wenatchee Exchange Club, co-founder of the Mission Creek Players, board member of the Music Theater of Wenatchee, president and board member of the WVC Foundation, member of the Wenatchee Arts Commission, and emeritus member and director of the Supporters of the Center. He has also served on the Washington State Bar Association Legislative Committee and Editorial Committee.
Trustee Phylicia Hancock Lewis will serve as the primary Association of Community College Trustees Legislative Representative, and Zimmerman will serve as the secondary representative.
