The public is invited to a free film screening of “Common Ground,” followed by a Q&A
panel discussion, on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in Van Tassell Center lounge
at Wenatchee Valley College.
The documentary reveals unjust farm system practices and depicts a hopeful, uplifting movement of Black, White, and Indigenous farmers toward alternative “regenerative” models of agriculture that could help to balance the climate, improve health, and stabilize America’s economy. “Common Ground” includes actors Laura Dern, Rosario Dawson, Jason Momoa, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Ian Somerhalder, and Nikki Reed. Josh and Rebecca Tickell directed and produced the film.
The Q&A panel will include Marcy Ostrom, director of the Food Systems Program at Washington State University; Robbette Schmidt, sales and outreach coordinator at Winton Compost Works; Kris Cameron, environmental chair of Rotary Club of Wenatchee Confluence and District 5060; and Joan Qazi, the sustainability coordinator and geography faculty member at Wenatchee Valley College.
This event is hosted by the WVC Sustainability Committee and Sustainable NCW.
