Federal Funding Updates
Feb. 12, 2025
Dear Campus Community,
Wenatchee Valley College is aware of the recent Executive Order from the White House
Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to freeze federal grants and loans. Since this
was issued, a federal district judge issued a temporary administrative stay which
continues to remain in place.
As we wait for more information, I want to share what we know as of today, February 12:
-
A pause in federal funding does not apply to student loans and Pell Grants, as confirmed by the U.S. Department of Education.
-
All winter quarter financial aid and funds have already been paid out and dispersed to students.
-
All WVC programs and support are operating normally.
We are currently awaiting more guidance from the Washington State Board for Community
and Technical Colleges, the Office of the Attorney General, and the Office of the
Governor.
We understand you may have questions and concerns about the implications of this potential
pause in federal grants and loans. Our highest priority is to support our community
and keep you informed.
We are committed to every student, staff, and faculty member that is part of our college,
and will continue to provide regular updates on what we are doing at WVC and as part
of the SBCTC to support our students’ rights to safety, privacy, and access to education.
Thank you for your dedication to our community.
Sincerely,
Faimous
