The Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) Foundation is pleased to announce that Microsoft, through its Datacenter Community Development Charitable Giving Program, has contributed $45,000 to the Microsoft Technology Scholarship. This multi-year scholarship began in 2023 with an initial $25,000 investment.
The Microsoft Technology Scholarship provides financial assistance for tuition, books, fees, and other program related supplies for students who reside in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, or Grant counties. Students must be enrolled for completion of a WVC Computer Technology Systems (CTS) or Business Computer Technology (BCT) degree and/or certification. The award preference is for those who have historically been underrepresented in STEM and IT fields. It will be available as part of the WVC Foundation’s scholarship pool during the Fall 2025 open application cycle.
"We are incredibly grateful for Microsoft’s continued investment in WVC students and in the future of our region’s tech workforce," said Rachel Evey, Executive Director of the WVC Foundation. "This scholarship not only removes financial barriers for students pursuing careers in technology but also helps ensure that more people have equitable access to education and opportunity in this vital industry."
The WVC CTS program offers training programs for computer support technicians, security specialists, network administrators and network engineers. Students are prepared for several industry-recognized certifications including Comp TIA A+, Comp TIA Network+, Linux and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA). The WVC BCT program prepares graduates for entry-level jobs in a wide variety of business and industry settings, or for self-employment. Students enrolled in the BCT program will acquire a one-year certificate or two-year associate's degree, and the educational foundation needed to function as an essential member of a business team.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. The Datacenter Community Development Charitable Giving program supports organizations and projects that help advance Microsoft's corporate social responsibility commitments, build local leadership, connect local organizations, and cultivate solutions that communities own and sustain in the long term.
