MLK Celebration

Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Jan. 16

A Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Wenatchee Valley College campus theater, Wells Hall. The event includes arts and crafts for children, entertainment, the presentation of the Civil Rights and Social Justice Award, and keynote speaker Brent Grothe from Wenatchee High School.

Arts and crafts time will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. and is hosted by WVC MEChA-International, the Eastmont High School and Wenatchee High School MEChA clubs, and the Eastmont High School Key Club.

The Civil Rights and Social Justice Award, sponsored by the City of Wenatchee Diversity Advisory Council, will be presented at 6:55 p.m. Grothe will present the keynote address, “Become a Servant Leader and Live Out the Dream” at 7:30 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by Mariachi Huenachi, performing at 6:40 p.m., and magician Masanobu Yamamoto, performing at 7:15 p.m.

This event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of one canned food item. Donations will go to Serve Wenatchee Valley.
