WVC Foundation has new executive director

Stacey LockhartStacey Lockhart, former director of development for U.S. Figure Skating in Colorado Springs, Colo., started her new position as executive director of the Wenatchee Valley College Foundation this month.

U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body and a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Previously Lockhart served as the executive director of the University of Alaska Anchorage Alumni Association in Anchorage, Alaska, and as the director of annual giving at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.

Lockhart is a 1987 graduate of Eastern Washington University and alumni of the Leadership Spokane Class of 1994. Lockhart also serves on the board of directors with the EWU Athletic Association.

“I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge,” said Lockhart. “As state support of higher education institutions continues to dwindle, and tuition continues to rise, a college education is becoming harder for many families to afford. No one should ever have to give up a dream because of financial need, and that’s where the WVC Foundation comes in.”

Lockhart sees private support of higher education as vital to recruiting and retaining topnotch faculty and for providing the facilities and equipment necessary for teaching students so they leave the college with the tools and skills needed in today’s marketplace.

“A gift to the WVC Foundation is a gift that will help change lives and, at the same time, strengthen the local economy so the region has a talented and skilled workforce,” she said. “I look forward to being part of that effort.”
