Wenatchee Valley College seeking Distinguished Alumni nominations

Wenatchee Valley College and the WVC Alumni Association are accepting nominations for the 2014 WVC Distinguished Alumni Award. Nomination forms must be submitted and/or postmarked by March 31.

The purpose of the WVC Distinguished Alumni Award is to recognize a WVC alumnus who has distinguished him or herself in his/her chosen professional field; made significant contributions to his or her community on a local, state, national or international level; and has demonstrated integrity in his/her personal life and gained the respect of his/her peers. A group may also be considered for the award, but all members must be alumni.

The award dates back over 30 years, with recent recipients including Lori Van Lith, CMA (2012); Juan Esparza, Ruth Esparza, Elsa Esparza and Claudia Valdez (2011); Ronald L. Adolphi, PhD. (2010); Marian Williams (2009) and Mike Dempsey (2008).

WVC's 1995 Distinguished Alumni recipient, Beverly Jagla, said that her transfer degree from WVC helped propel her into a bachelor's degree program at Central Washington University and into her career as an educator. "Without that start, I don't know if I would have been able to do it," she said. "Those two years were life changing, and I'll always be thankful for that start." Jagla is the former assistant superintendent at Eastmont School District.

Nomination forms may be found on the WVC Alumni website at www.wvc.edu/alumni. Forms may be requested by contacting WVC Alumni Association Coordinator James Coker at jcoker@wvc.edu, or 509.682.6413. Nominations must be in writing and accompanied by a nomination form.
