WVC Food, Environment and Community workshop series offers two April workshops

For those interested in growing indoor produce and making the most of storm water runoff, the Wenatchee Valley College Food, Environment and Community Workshop series is offering two April workshops on these topics. The Water Runoff seminar takes place on Wednesday, April 9, and Container Planting is on Thursday, April 17. Both events are 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Batjer Hall 8039 on the Wenatchee campus. They are free and open to the public.

WVC student Josh Peterson will cover city of Wenatchee water run-off regulations, why the rules are being implemented and how costs can be mitigated at the Water Runoff seminar. Participants will learn how to sequester storm water runoff to ensure a healthier river system.

At the Container Planting workshop, Master Gardener and Tierra Gardens manager Eron Drew will demonstrate how easy it is to grow produce indoors, even for those who do not want to grow a garden. Drew will offer tips about plant starts and growing vegetables indoors.

The Food, Environment and Community workshop series is provided by the WVC Agriculture and Natural Resources departments. The series is designed to facilitate learning and discussion about relevant food-related topics and showcase local students, faculty and community members who have valuable knowledge to share with the community. This is the second year that the WVC Agriculture and Natural Resources department has offered these workshops.
