Knights fast-pitch players make All-American, All-Star and All-Academic teams

The Knight fast-pitch placed third at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) championship tournament at Delta Park in Portland, Ore., over the weekend. In addition, many of the fast-pitch players were named to the 2011 NWAACC East Region All-Star and All-Academic teams, and to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American team.

Knights pitcher Amy Greenough and catcher Cassi Ellis have been named to the 2011 NFCA All-American team and the NWAACC East Region Softball All-Star team. Greenough also earned the NWAACC Pitcher of the Year Award and Ellis the NFCA Diamond Catcher Award.

Their teammates on the NWAACC All-Star first team include pitcher Sydnee Jerome, infielders Kaylee Larson and Moe Stuart, outfielders Chynna Sandhop and Kelsie DeBroeck, and DH/DP Ashley Van Horne. Infielder McKensie Stanton was named to the All-Star second team.

Baylee Jolliffe, along with DeBroeck, Larson and Stuart, were also named to the 2011 NWAACC spring-quarter All Academic team. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, players must be a sophomore with a minimum of 36 credits earned, a 3.25 GPA or higher, and be recommended by their college.

The Knights tied with Walla Walla Community College for the NWAACC East Region championship title this year. This is the sixth consecutive year the Knights have won the title.
