The Wenatchee Valley College Foundation and Associated Students of WVC invite the community to a groundbreaking ceremony for the new student recreation center on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. in the Smith Gym parking lot on the Wenatchee campus.
The event will include the unveiling of the student recreation center name and recognition of the donor who is gifting $1 million to the WVC Foundation for campus capital improvements.
Presenters include Dr. Jim Richardson, WVC President; Phil Rasmussen, chairperson of the WVC Board of Trustees; Stacey Lockhart, WVC Foundation Executive Director; and Tatem Resutek, WVC Student Senate President.
The student recreation center construction is scheduled for completion by the summer of 2017. The $6.2 million center will be 17,500 square feet, with a 5,000 sq. ft. mezzanine. It will include two basketball courts, a multipurpose room, fitness equipment and weights. There will also be space for volleyball, badminton and indoor tennis. The tennis court will be located to the west of Smith Gym, where the two tennis courts are located.
