Seventh annual Wenatchee Valley Renaissance Faire at WVC April

Wenatchee Valley College will host the seventh annual Wenatchee Valley Renaissance Faire on Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, at the soccer fields on the Wenatchee campus. The main entrance will be west of the tennis courts. The drawbridge is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The faire will include an archery range along with battle erics and a crafts area. Other activities include shield designs, a Shoot-a-Knight game, a grail quest and the annual Maypole dance hosted by the local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Faire-goers will also enjoy fighting demonstrations, musical performances, fire breathers, rogue wanderings by The Pirates of Treasure Island and Captain Jack Sparrow, belly dancing by members of the Sabah Tribe, the enchanting Fairy Princess Lolly and performances by Irish dancers.

Over 35 merchants will be in attendance with medieval clothing, armor, chainmail, tapestries, jewelry, weaponry and more. Culinary feasts are also available.

Period costumes, as well as fantasy, live-action-role-playing (LARP) and medieval dress are encouraged but not required.

"Many have come to know that this is not only the first Renaissance Faire of the season in the Northwest, but also the family friendliest," said Matthew Harrison, Wenatchee Renaissance Faire director.

The first Wenatchee Renaissance Faire opened on the Wells House lawn at Wenatchee Valley College in April 2008 with a handful of vendors and fun entertainers. The leadership team has grown the faire over the past seven years to include a wide variety of vendors and entertainers and has specifically tailored the event to be family oriented.

Admission is free for children five and under and for WVC students with current student ID cards. General admission for a one-day pass is $9 for adults (18 and older) and $6 for children between six and 17 years of age.
