On Thursday, Sept. 3, Wilfred and Kathy Woods will be honored by their daughter, Kara Hunnicutt, and friends in a concert in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center, on the Wenatchee Valley College campus. The performance will begin at 7 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

The performers include cellists Matt Ryan-Kelzenberg, Kara Hunnicutt and Meredith Hunnicutt; violinist Michelle Vaughn; and pianist Duane Funderburk. The program includes a Renaissance cello trio and works by Brahms and Mendelssohn.

Small ideas grow quickly when Wilfred Woods hears of them. The performance, initially planned for a few friends and family, is now open to the public. "Let's make it a fundraiser for scholarships," he told Stacey Lockhart, executive director of the WVC Foundation.

"This time, he said, why not invite the public to this special performance and raise some money to help the students? Great music like this should be heard by as many as possible!" Lockhart said.

Wilfred Woods is encouraging all who attend to make a gift to the WVC Foundation Scholarship Fund to assist the Foundation in providing financial assistance to WVC students. Scholarship funding is one of the WVC Foundation's annual priorities. "The need will always be greater than the funding available so when opportunities such as this are presented, we love to be able to participate and help students when possible," Lockhart said.
